Peter W. Hoops

Peter W. Hoops is the owner of Hoops & Associates, LLC. He is a life-long resident of New London county and was admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut in November of 1987 after receiving his law degree with honors from the New England School of Law. Peter completed his undergraduate work at Trinity College in Hartford where he received a B.A. in History in 1981.

Peter began his legal career at a local Groton law firm and then opened his own successful practice in 1993.

Peter concentrates his practice on several areas. He is one of the most respected landlord attorneys in New London County. He represents many large apartment complexes as well as individual landlords in all aspects of summary process law. He also concentrates on Real Estate law, representing individuals, lenders and commercial clients in real estate transactions. Additionally, he represents individuals in business and corporate matters including the set-up of new business ventures.

He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association as well as a member of the New London County Bar Association. He has been an incorporator for Chelsea Groton Savings Bank and has served on the Board of Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company. He is also local counsel for Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, Inc. Peter resides in Stonington.

Joe is an associate at Hoops & Associates, LLC. He was born and raised in New London County, earned a B.A. in History and Anthropology from the University of Connecticut, and earned his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law. He was admitted to the Connecticut bar after graduation in 2011, and has been with Hoops & Associates, LLC ever since. Joe focuses his practice on probate law (including decedent’s estates and conservatorships) and estate planning. He also handles all types of real estate closings and represents landlords in eviction and housing matters.

Joe is regularly contacted by local probate courts in need of an experienced attorney to fill the roles of conservator, successor administrator or guardian ad litem. He serves on the board of the Estate and Tax Planning Council of Eastern Connecticut, and is a member and former Treasurer of the Mystic chapter of Business Network International (BNI).
